South Africans may be known for many things: being strong and good at sports, polite and attentive, for their amazing rhythm or great voices. They are definitely not known for being good drivers.
Congestion, potholes and ruthlessly zigzagging taxi drivers give even the most patient person road rage. The fear of being stuck in traffic for hours (we’re talking traveling 20km/h on the highway – if that) will tempt any law-abiding citizen into putting their food down. And the pre-Über lack of ways of getting home after dinner or a night out has turned even the most responsible person into the occasional drink-driver...

But my favourite bad-driving moment is when you approach a traffic light and just when you are too close to stop it turns orange. You can no longer stop and have to drive through a dark-orange… possibly red light. Slightly concerned you check your mirrors and realise that the car behind you has also driven through. And the one behind that one...
