Global Storm

There are a lot of advantages of working in a global firm like McKinsey… and so far only one initially amusing, but eventually really irritating downside.

Somewhere hidden in the depth of the McKinsey mail directory is an option to mail every single person in the firm. Normally only our Managing Director makes use of that. But sometimes a poor soul accidentally sends a mail to the entire firm starting a global storm of e-mails…

Within seconds of getting the misdirected mail, people start asking to be unsubscribed, share their annoyance, make jokes and add random thoughts – of course by replying to all so that everyone in the entire firm can enjoy the global spam outbreak! Like this one...

Annette, Germany: Dear colleagues, Could you please provide me with the Firm directory for my blackberry?

Omar, UK: Could this be another Ranjit?

Peter, Germany: Please take me off the list!

Dirk, Poland: STOP IT PLEASE!!!!!!

Jon, USA: Why am I getting these messages?
