Somewhere hidden in the depth of the McKinsey mail directory is an option to mail every single person in the firm. Normally only our Managing Director makes use of that. But sometimes a poor soul accidentally sends a mail to the entire firm starting a global storm of e-mails…
Within seconds of getting the misdirected mail, people start asking to be unsubscribed, share their annoyance, make jokes and add random thoughts – of course by replying to all so that everyone in the entire firm can enjoy the global spam outbreak! Like this one...
Annette, Germany: Dear colleagues, Could you please provide me with the Firm directory for my blackberry?
Omar, UK: Could this be another Ranjit?
Peter, Germany: Please take me off the list!
Dirk, Poland: STOP IT PLEASE!!!!!!
Jon, USA: Why am I getting these messages?
Rodrigo, Brazil: Twice in less than two weeks?
Jodi, USA: I am getting a bunch of emails related to this!
Kim, South Korea: Again? Hahaha...
Rajat, India: Adding Anish to the chain...
Ivanshu, Portugal: Unsuscribe pls
Baber, Norway: I would like to use this opportunity to say to all Norwegians - happy 17.May!!! (National Day). E.T - this gotta be the best day in your life?
Yogita, India: Please stop sending these mails.....Don't clutter the inbox.
Antonio, Italy: This is really Global spam! Ah ah
George, UK: We're doomed! Doomed!
Sparsh, Dubai: This thread is far less creative than the last one.... Where are the Memes??
Byron, South Africa: Can I buy you a chicken?
Jim, Netherlands: Please stop the emails asking to stop the emails of people asking to stop the emails of people asking to be removed of the list :-)
Prav, South Africa: Seems like CC-ing the whole world gets you a quick resolution...
Thomas, Germany: Are you looking for your laptop? Indeed Ranjit can help for sure....
Stephanie, Switzerland: All of this brings great joy to me on a Friday. A couple of follow-ups:
(1) Does anybody know if Florian got the fellowship? I've been rooting for him!
(2) Adding Tiago and Darius who requested to be added to all future global spam lists
(3) Here again is another excellent opportunity for a BA to codify these recent global email firestorms for the joy of future McK generations. Is anyone up for the challenge?
