No matter if you were reading the Australian News, the Indian Express or Your Jewish News this week, watching CNN or SkyNews or simply researching your next holiday on www.visitbulgaria.info, you will have found it difficult to miss the results of a new study published by the University of Hertfordshire:
Researchers found that when asked to rate the confidence, success, trustworthiness, salary and flexibility of women – some wearing trousers, some skirts but all with blurred faces – people rated women in skirts higher than those in trousers! Apparently, women wearing skirts at work are considered more confident and competent and likely to be more successful and earn higher wages than their female colleagues in trousers.
What researchers had to prove in experiments and studies, I must have intuitively known long ago, which is why I gave up trousers and started wearing dresses whenever possible! (Or maybe it was born out of pure laziness because I could not be bothered to find matching clothes every morning...)
My awesome intuition tells me that wearing colours rather than blacks has a similar effect as wearing skirts… time to go back to www.visitbulgaria.info to see whether a study can confirm this too!
